North American resorts are known for excellent service, outstanding ski schools, wide groomed runs and huge terrain. Lift tickets bought at the window are very expensive, but multi-resort passes (such as Epic or Ikon) and advance purchase can reduce the cost dramatically.

Remember: runs use green circles, blue squares and black diamonds (see piste colours).

Beginner verdict: Excellent, but expensive.
